WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Walmart’s Fitness Equipment and Sports Equipment group said on Tuesday it will offer a 1.00 percent bonus on every workout equipment purchase for up to six months after it launches in 2018.

Walmart has long been known for its high-end fitness gear and products but is seeking to differentiate itself from its bigger competitors by offering smaller and more affordable products.

The company is already in talks with some of the biggest fitness equipment manufacturers to build on the partnership and the company has already announced plans to build its own workout gear and equipment.

The Walmart workout equipment group, which includes Nike, Under Armour, and Target, said in a statement it will pay the bonus once Walmart launches in the first quarter of 2018.

It’s not clear when that will happen.

Wal-Mart is the second-largest U.S. retailer by sales, with more than 7 million stores.

It is the largest employer in the United States with some 1.5 million employees.
